I am a biotechnology engineer with a Master’s in Biomolecular Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I specialized in molecular biology and genetics. My academic and professional journey has been shaped by a strong commitment to translational research and the integration of molecular diagnostics into clinical practice. I kicked off my career during the pandemic, helping manage a lab that handled thousands of diagnostic tests every day. During my Master´s in Madrid, I screened for variants in a non-coding RNA gene in neurodevelopmental disorders.

Beyond research, I have developed a passion for teaching and mentorship. My current goals include pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology in Rice University, where I hope to contribute to equitable, pan-ethnic diagnostic workflows and advocate for policies that expand access to genetic medicine.
Outside of academia, I find balance through creative outlets such as cooking and playing the piano, which allow me to explore cultures and express myself beyond the laboratory. My career is driven by a vision of science as both discovery and service—advancing knowledge while ensuring its benefits reach diverse communities worldwide.

Fun Fact about me:

I took part in MasterChef Uruguay and made it to the 4th place!
