About Rice
Rice University is one of America’s leading research institutions. The university is consistently ranked in the top 20 in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report. Rice’s home is a 300-acre forested campus in the heart of Houston, one of the largest and most diverse cities in the U.S. Our top-ranked programs are known worldwide for their scholarship, and our faculty and students are some of the world’s best and brightest. We create, innovate, discover, and push the boundaries of what is possible. We inspire each other to be our best and work across traditional boundaries to increase our foundational knowledge of the world, as well as develop interdisciplinary, innovative solutions to the problems facing humanity! We hope you will consider joining our Rice family.
We have over 50 degree programs in eight different schools: Architecture, Business, Continuing Studies, Engineering, Humanities, Music, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. Qualified doctoral students often receive departmental stipends starting at $32,000 per year (and often higher) to cover living expenses. That means you can earn your Ph.D. and get paid for it. Stipend and/or tuition support is also available in some master’s programs.
