Overview for Incoming Awardees
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program
Through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, current Rice faculty, staff, artists, and experienced professionals are eligible to apply for more than 400 awards in over 135 countries worldwide. These awards support projects in research, teaching, and professional engagement across a wide range of disciplines.
Scholars collaborate with international institutions, build long-term research partnerships, share expertise in classrooms abroad, and contribute to mutual understanding between the United States and host countries. Award lengths, activities, and eligibility requirements vary by country and program, offering flexibility for academic sabbaticals, summer projects, and multi-month residencies.
U.S. citizenship is required for most awards. Faculty and professional staff at Rice are encouraged to explore opportunities that align with their scholarly interests and global engagement goals.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides fellowships for graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, and artists to pursue study, research, or English teaching assignments abroad.
Participants design independent research or creative projects, enroll in graduate study programs, or serve as English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) in schools and universities worldwide. The program supports academic growth, cultural exchange, and professional development during a fully funded year abroad.
Rice students and recent alumni receive campus advising and endorsement support throughout the application process. U.S. citizenship is required for participation in most award categories.
