I am a Peruvian geneticist and biotechnologist with experience in epidemiology, molecular biology, and infectious disease research. My work has focused on public health, molecular surveillance, and emerging diseases affecting vulnerable and remote communities in Peru. Through these experiences, I became interested in developing affordable point-of-care diagnostic devices that can be used in low-resource settings. My goal is to help improve access to early diagnosis in underserved communities.

What I like most about Rice/Houston:

At Rice, I am particularly drawn to its proximity of the Texas Medical Center, which provides outstanding internship and career opportunities. I also value the chance to connect with and learn from leading researchers in my field. Additionally, I appreciate Houston’s vibrant diversity.

What I like most about Fulbright:

I am excited about the opportunity to represent my country, meet people from different cultures, and learn from them. I also appreciate the strong sense of community and hospitality among Fulbright scholars, especially within the Fulbright community at Rice.

Fun Fact about Me:

I enjoy dancing to Latin American music, but I'm not very good at it.
