I am from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. I earned a degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL). Along the way, I met amazing professors and researchers who introduced me to scientific research. I have always been a person with very specific interests, and research quickly became one of them.

That interest led me to pursue a master’s degree in Nanotechnology at UANL, where I worked in a research group focused on electrochemical energy storage. This field became especially interesting to me because of the growing demand for energy around the world and the challenges of meeting that demand in a sustainable way.

My master’s project opened doors to opportunities I never expected when I first started my academic journey. It allowed me to present my work at GCURS, where I visited Rice University for the first time, and to complete a research stay at the University of Nantes in France.

I am excited to continue learning about energy storage materials and to contribute to research that can help address future energy challenges.
 

What I like most about Rice/Houston:

I have always been a big-city person, so Houston feels like a great fit for me. I also love Rice’s beautiful campus and, most importantly, its people.

What I like most about Fulbright:

It may sound cliché, but what I like most about the Fulbright program is the community. Some of the most important opportunities in my life have come from meeting inspiring people, and I think Fulbright creates a unique space for those connections to happen.

Fun Fact about Me:

I originally learned how to skate ramps for a music video by a local band from my hometown, and roller skating has been a big part of my life ever since.
