I'm from Argentina, born and raised in Rafaela, a small city about a seven-hour drive north of Buenos Aires.
I studied Electromechanical Engineering at the National Technological University. My last job was as a project engineer at the Electricity Company of the Province of Santa Fe, a State Government company, which is an energy provider. That's where my passion for energy truly began, and what has driven me ever since.
Back in my hometown, I also work as a teaching and research assistant at the Renewable Energies laboratory at the National University of Rafaela. Working with such a great team motivated me to take the next step. I'm convinced that as our world becomes more technological, we'll need sustainable energy to take care of the only home we have.
That's why I'm so excited to have this Fulbright scholarship and to join the Master of Energy Transition and Sustainability program at Rice University. This program will let me study how we can transition from oil and gas to renewable sources from an economic, engineering, and management perspective.
What I like about Rice/Houston
The heat and humidity in Houston make me feel right at home, as the climate is very similar to my city's. It's a great city, full of vitality and huge. What surprised me the most is that nobody walks and everyone drives, and I soon realized why—everything is so far away! For someone studying energy, this is undoubtedly the right place; it's the energy capital of the world and full of companies in the sector. And the Rice University campus is so big, with so many events and things to do, you'll never be bored!
What I like about Fulbright
What I love most about Fulbright is the great community that is formed around the world, especially here at Rice University, where we were very well received. It has allowed me to make my dream of studying in the United States a reality, and I enjoy feeling part of something greater!
Fun fact about me
I'm a huge fan of Boca Juniors, a football club in my country, and I love watching Formula 1, especially when Colapinto is racing. In Argentina, I played a lot of padel, but here I'm learning to play pickleball—a new transition in my life!
