The human heart is a fascinating machine, beating about 100,000 times a day and pumping over 7500 liters of blood. My interest in this magnificent organ stems from a personal experience close to my heart. Witnessing the challenges faced by individuals with Fallot's Tetralogy, a complex congenital heart condition, has fueled my passion for improving treatments for congenital heart diseases. Inspired by my mentor, I delved into research during medical school, gaining experience in various techniques. It was during this time that I discovered my true passion for laboratory work and decided to pursue a career in research.
Motivated by the stagnant state of biomaterials for myocardial repair in cardiovascular surgery, I began exploring the field of constructive remodeling and tissue engineering. To gain the necessary knowledge in engineering, I pursued my graduate education in biomaterials while working as a physician in the Ministry of Health. The intensity of this dual role is a delightful challenge for me. In my master's program, I focused on cardiovascular tissue engineering and worked on iPSC culture, bioreactor setup, microenvironment optimization, and 3D printing of cardiomyocytes. Currently, my master's thesis focuses on improving graft properties for treating interventricular septal defects through placental membrane decellularization.
Nominated for the Fulbright Ph.D. Grant, I am eager to pursue my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on novel treatments for pediatric heart diseases. Although the journey ahead is challenging, I find immense joy and intensity in this path. With confidence, I embrace the long road that lies ahead, fueled by my unwavering passion for improving the lives of those affected by congenital heart diseases.

The Fulbright network acts as a lifelong support system, providing access to a diverse community of like-minded individuals who share a common passion for fostering global understanding and collaboration.
Fun Fact:
I'm proud to say that even after all these years, the alphabet and I are complete strangers. Who needs A, B, and C anyway when you can create your own language of nonsense?
