I am from the city Salto in Uruguay, where I lived until I was 18, when I went to Montevideo to study at the University. I am a sociable person who likes to listen to the opinion and discuss ideas with other people, and try to be objective and to have my feet on the ground. I like spending time with my friends and my family, I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers who luckily live in Uruguay and we see each other often. I studied Mechanical Industrial Engineering and specialized in Fluids and Energy motivated by my interest in science, in particular in issues related to energy and its various applications. I am very happy to have obtained the Fulbright scholarship, and excited to go to study at Rice in Houston. My family, girlfriend and friends support me and are also happy for this opportunity, which I hope to enjoy to the fullest. I play sports every week, mainly soccer and tennis. I am good at ping pong, and I would like to try sports which are popular at the USA, such as baseball or pickle ball. I also like reading, I prefer historical novels or topics of general culture, such as economics and politics. One of my favorite authors is Ken Follet.
On Houston and Rice:
The opportunity of meeting people and making new friends at Rice. I would love to spend time with them at Rice’s campus and in Houston, to share my life experiences about living in a small Latin-American country, as well I would like to know about their lives too. I am also excited to visit and live in Houston, a great, big and cosmopolitan city, where I am sure that there are lot of things to know and learn about.
On Fulbright:
The opportunity of meeting other Fulbrighters from all around the world, and hopefuly make friends for life. I am also very grateful to have been selected by the Fulbright program, for all the facilities it has provided me and the doors it has opened to allow me to study at Rice.
