Ron Ismaili, Fulbrighter at Rice University

WEBSITE(S)| Computer Science at Rice

Program: Master's in Computer Science
Home Country: North Macedonia
Universities: South East European University
Languages: Albanian, English, German, Macedonian

I was born in Switzerland and moved to North Macedonia at age ten, where my family is from. The gap between the two countries never really left me, and eventually I realized technology was the most practical way I could do something about it. So I did a Bachelor's in Computer Science at South East European University, picked up experience through exchanges in Spain and Germany, and worked part-time as a software engineer along the way. Now I'm excited to deepen that foundation at Rice's MCS program!

What I like most about Rice/Houston

What I like most about Rice is its well-regarded Computer Science department, the many opportunities it offers its students, and its tight-knit Fulbright community. Houston also appeals to me as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the U.S.

What I like most about Fulbright

Without Fulbright, a Master's in the U.S. wouldn't be financially possible for me. But beyond the funding, the network is what really excites me. People from completely different countries and fields, all brought together by a shared belief in exchange and understanding. I'm eager to learn from that community, and contribute something to it too!

Fun Fact about me

My favorite album of all time is Hybrid Theory :)
