I am an Industrial Engineer with over eight years of experience across both Downstream and Upstream operations. Born in San Salvador de Jujuy in Northern Argentina, my career has provided me with the opportunity to visit several key energy sites across my country. From my roots in the north, home to vast lithium reserves, to the heart of Patagonia, where I have worked following the development of Vaca Muerta, the country's premier non-conventional basin.
My career took a transformative turn in 2018 when I joined YPF’s Young Professionals program. Relocating to the La Plata refinery, I started as an Operations Engineer in a Platforming unit. It was a profound challenge, working in a highly competitive environment and an industry predominantly managed by men. There, I realized I was part of the energy that powers 80% of Argentina. This experience, guided by a strong female mentor, inspired me to pursue excellence and showed me that I could compete at the highest level. During my time in Downstream, I led complex projects, such as the re-engineering of a solidification plant and optimizing logistics for exports to Brazil, where I achieved a 20% reduction in costs by implementing strategic changes in transport.
In 2022, my interest in Argentina's energy matrix led me to Neuquén to work with Tenaris and later Emerson. These roles expanded my expertise into Upstream and midstream infrastructure, highlighting the importance of efficient resource management and the economic potential of unconventional reservoirs. I have transitioned from technical field monitoring to strategic planning and commercial roles, gaining a holistic 360-degree vision of the hydrocarbon value chain.
To consolidate this experience, I am currently finishing a specialization in Oil & Gas Production at the Technological Institute of Buenos Aires (ITBA). My focus over the past year has been to integrate technical proficiency with economic analysis, preparing myself for high-impact, strategic roles.
Ultimately, I believe that my continuous effort and holistic background provide a solid foundation for continued learning. As a woman in a historically male industry, I am motivated to challenge myself and strive for excellence. My goal is to leverage the MEECON program at Rice University to become a catalyst for change, contributing to Argentina’s development and fostering international collaboration and a more sustainable use of energy worldwide.
What I like most about Rice/Houston
Rice’s presence in a city as relevant to the energy sector as Houston is a key factor for me. The access to global technology hubs and the major annual conventions hosted there creates an ideal environment for professional growth within the Oil and Gas industry. I am excited about the opportunity of joining a university that has a top program and a profound connection with the energy sector, and the chance to build a larger network not only in Houston, but also on a global scale.
What I like most about Fulbright
What I value the most are the support and commitment to professional well-being that the Fulbright program offers. Its focus on supporting professionals from diverse countries and creating strong, professional connections with the United States is truly unique. To me, it represents a bridge to a more collaborative global community.
Fun Fact about me
Although I am deeply committed to my professional path, I have always dreamed of a career in philanthropy, perhaps leading humanitarian missions around the world. Nonetheless, I have always found a way to make a positive global impact, no matter the role I am given.
