I grew up in Piura, a city located in northern Peru. From a young age, I was drawn to mathematics and physics, and later I studied Mechanical-Electrical Engineering at the University of Piura.
My first job was at the electric distribution company “Luz del Sur”, which operates in the southern area of Lima. There, I began to specialize in the electrical branch of my field, and I truly enjoyed it. My mission was to design electrification projects, bringing public lighting and the electrical service to new populated centers, expanding the low-voltage and medium-voltage network. It was very rewarding work—I felt that I was truly contributing to the development of my city, as homes in these communities gained access to electricity, families could work, and children could study. Years later, I worked as a project engineer, this time focusing on connecting clients who required more than 50 kW in low voltage.
Soon, I will begin the Master of Energy Transition and Sustainability at Rice University. It is a challenge that excites me greatly, and I am confident it will strengthen my knowledge and my personal and professional skills. I am very grateful to the Fulbright Commission and Rice University for this opportunity, and I hope they will also learn a lot about me, my culture and professional background.
