I grew up in Santa Fe, Argentina, where I completed my studies as an Environmental Engineering at Universidad Nacional del Litoral. In the process, I completed an exchange in Toulouse, France, at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées. This was a wonderful experience, which allowed me to meet new people, be submerged in a brand new culture and improve a new language. It also motivated me to keep traveling, and in 2016, I had the chance to work as a research intern at ETH Zürich, in Switzerland.
Although during my student years I focused on research in different areas, such as indoor air disinfection, catalytic solvent elimination and water treatment, after my graduation I began working in the private industry. Particularly, I joined Bioingepro, a company which specializes in water and wastewater treatment, within the technical & commercial department. There, I was able to deepen my process and design knowledge, as well as develop negotiation and leadership skills.
Nonetheless, I was also very interested in contributing to find solutions to other environmental and societal issues. For this reason, I joined Hecho por Nosotros, an NGO which fosters sustainability in the fashion industry. Working there as a research volunteer was an amazing experience, and after a year of work we published a paper and developed a toolkit for the design and construction of artificial wetlands which allow textile artisans to naturally treat their domestic and industrial effluents. In the future, I hope to work developing technical solutions which take into account societal and economic aspects, while fostering sustainability.
For all these reasons, I applied for a Fulbright scholarship and had the chance to join the PSM in Environmental Analysis at Rice University, which I am very excited about. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, traveling around, taking pictures and learning new languages.
What I like most about Rice:
Diversity and the array of opportunities.
What I like most about Fulbright:
Feeling part of something greater, connecting with people from all over the world and hearing their incredible stories!
Fun fact:
I worked as a photographer for a couple of years!
