Simona Cupic teaches modern art in the US and Europe, with a focus on art and culture between the World Wars and 1950s and 1960s. She is particularly interested in the visual and popular culture between 1930s and 1960s. She is the author of Mona Lisa & SupermanJohn F. Kennedy and the New Frontier of the Culture (ICOM Serbia best book of the year award, 2016), Elain de Kooning: Portraits (with Brandon Brame Fortune, Ann Eden Gibson, 2015), The JFK Culture (edited volume, 2013), and Bourgeois Modernism and Popular CultureEpisodes of the Fashionable, Faddish and Modern (1918-1941) (2011), among others. She is executive editor of the Journal of the Seminar for Modern Art History Studies. Simona Cupic’s research has been supported by grants and fellowships from the Harry Ransom Centar, The University of Texas at Austin, Sasakawa Tokyo Foundation, Ministry of Education of Serbia, Central European University in Budapest. She has won two awards from the Association of Historians of Serbian Art for the best Exhibition (2008 and 2011).
