My name is Marco Salmaso (he/him), I am 25 years old and I come from Padua, Italy. My educational background includes a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Music in Piano. Space and Music are my two greatest passions. I love travelling and discovering new places around the world as well.

The next two years I will be pursuing a Professional Science Master's in Space Studies at Rice University, in order to extend and deepen my knowledge on space-related topics and develop hands-on skills which will help me in my future professional career. I will attend this Space Program as a Fulbright grantee. I am really excited and look forward to working in a multi-cultural environment and I am honored to be part of the Fulbright Program, because I believe in the vision of the Program to connect people from different backgrounds by sharing experience, ideas and knowledge. With this experience, I will be able to build new connections within a broader community, and I hope to continue to keep these connections alive even after the end of the program.

In the future, I would like to contribute to the improvement and development of the aerospace sector. In particular, my primary interests include Space Situational Awareness and Space Sustainability, which are related to using space technologies as a resource to support the sustainability of our planet. I am enthusiastic to learn and address new challenges in order to provide effective answers for the space industry of the future.

What I like about Rice/Houston:

It's a very diverse University/City!

What I like about Fulbright:

The opportunity to connect with people around the world and learn about different cultures.

Fun Fact:

From elementary to middle school, I tried many sports but didn't continue any of them. Then I started studying a musical instrument and ended up obtaining a Master of Music in Piano, together with the Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering.
