Isabella is a recent graduate of Te Kōkī - the New Zealand School of Music, where she studied flute under Kirstin Eade and Bridget Douglas. Isabella placed 3rd in the Gisborne International Music Competition (2020) and 2nd in New Zealand's National Concerto Competition (2019). Principal Flute of the National Youth Orchestra for several years, Isabella is a keen orchestral player who has worked as a regular guest for the New Zealand Symphony and Orchestra Wellington. She performed as a Young Artist at the first Whakatipu Music Festival in June 2021, and received awards for the finest performances of New Zealand compositions at the Gisborne International Music Competition and the New Zealand School of Music. Isabella played in the contemporary ensemble Stroma and in various composer premieres around Wellington throughout her study. She is thrilled to be taking up a place at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music from August 2022. Until then, Isabella is based in Australia, where she works as an Art History tutor at Trinity College, the University of Melbourne, while undertaking private study with Josh Batty, Principal Flute of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Isabella remains an active graduate of the Religious Studies department at Victoria University of Wellington, where she studied for conjoint arts and music degrees.
