I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. After stumbling through my introductory courses as an Exploratory Student, I eventually received my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Molecular Biology and Economics. During this time, I ignited my passion in scientific research by working on engineering new vaccines from measles virus. I wanted to continue pursuing independent research, and this led into my Fulbright in the Netherlands, working in the lab of Dr. Piter Bosma at the UvA Medical School. We worked on developing new viral vectors, while exploring Amsterdam and the surrounding country. Upon returning to the states, I started my Ph.D here at Rice in the lab of Dr. Yizhi Jane Tao, working on the discovery and characterization of new viral capsid structures. Outside of lab, I have been involved with the life science consulting group Enventure and the Rice Biosciences GSA. After I graduate, I plan on entering the biotechnology industry and assist in producing next generation viral therapeutics. In my spare time, I run, read, play board games, try obscure hot sauces, and explore Houston.

What I like most about Houston:

Food, concerts, variety of activities!

The ability to do independent research in a new environment, and connecting with my family history.
