I was born in Quito, Ecuador and got my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ). After that I worked for an international trade company in Ecuador for 3 years before returning to USFQ to become a Laboratory Technician and Instructor. I came to Rice to obtain a Master of Science and was accepted to continue on track to obtain a Ph.D. I'm currently doing research at the Catalysis and Nanomaterials Laboratory. My research goal is to develop a water decontamination technology that is easy to incorporate to existing treatment options and will further guarantee the removal of persistent contaminants to ensure safe drinking water.

On Houston:

Houston is a diverse city with many things to explore. Also, I like wearing shorts and this is the perfect city to do so.

On Fulbright:

The Fulbright program is an awesome opportunity to meet talented professionals from diverse fields and share with them in an academic and nonacademic environment. I've felt very welcome in the Rice community because of the amazing friends I met in this program.

Fun Fact:

My dream job as a kid was being a paleontologist (I still love dinosaurs).
